In September of 2009, the Oakland County Sheriff's dispatch was contracted to serve as the 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the community of Walled Lake. The Sheriff's dispatch operations center stands ready: twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Highly trained Dispatch personnel handle Walled Lake emergency 911 calls for police, fire, emergency medical assistance, and other non-emergency calls or inquiries. In addition to managing emergency calls, the dispatch operations center also handles routine requests from citizens.

When seconds count, the Police Dispatch Operations Center provides communications expertise, as well as continuity of procedures, in order to provide the community and officers the maximum level of safety. Preparation is key. Comprehensive training, plans, and procedures equip Dispatch Operations personnel to address day-to-day operations, emergencies, mutual aid from neighboring communities, heavy call volume due to large-scale emergency situations, and backup facilities in the case of a PSAP outage. Dispatch Operations personnel are trained in the most advanced law enforcement equipment and resources available, including: Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Enhanced 9-1-1, Oakland County Courts and Law Enforcement Management Information System (CLEMIS), Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), Corrections Management Information System (CMIS), Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (NLETS), and police radio and telephone systems.
